University Credit Union Announces Annual Scholarship Opportunity Available To UC Berkeley Students

University Credit Union (UCU) has announced its annual scholarship program for the 2023 school year. There are three scholarship awards available, which have been designed to recognize outstanding UCU student members (high school, undergraduate, and/or graduate students) who have demonstrated leadership initiative in addressing educational inequities or are making a positive impact in their communities.

The scholarship awards are available to any university students or high school students that have been accepted into an accredited educational institution, who meet the eligibility criteria listed below.

As a purpose-driven financial cooperative, UCU strives to provide a financial advantage and assist university communities in the pursuit of academic excellence and leadership. Through community-based student scholarship programs, UCU aims to strengthen community bonds and support the success of campuses throughout California. UCU has supported university communities since it was founded in 1951 on UCLA’s campus by faculty and staff. Since then, UCU has awarded more than $115,000 in scholarships to outstanding students in partner communities.

The awards will be provided within three categories:

  1. Al Aubin Advocacy Scholarship: For students who have advocated, supported, or are helping to alleviate barriers for underrepresented students in higher education.
  2. Jane Permaul Women in Leadership Scholarship: For students who have supported, influenced, or shown leadership efforts to eliminate barriers for women in leadership roles.
  3. University Credit Union Financial Advantage Scholarship: For students who plan to use or are currently using their education to positively impact their community.
