Berklee Scholarships for Women

Berklee College of Music, the world’s premier college of contemporary music, offers $1.5 million in merit- and need-based scholarships to prospective graduate students on Berklee’s campus in Valencia, Spain, so that the most gifted musicians from all over the world have the means to attend. All applicants are eligible to apply for a Berklee General Scholarship. Some scholarships have specific eligibility requirements.

The institute has some specific scholarships for women that are only meant for women. While female candidates can always apply for the general scholarship programs, they have a range of women’s scholarships keeping in mind that the increasing number of female students applying every year.

The Various Options 

– Berklee Groove Scholarship

Awarded to talented artists whose primary instrument is stated above and who are admitted to Berklee’s Valencia campus for the Master’s in Contemporary Performance (Production Concentration). They will be taught by faculty members such as bass superstar Gary Willis and percussionist Yoel Paez.

Scholarship Amount – Up to 90% of Tuition fees

– Berklee Alumnus Scholarship

The Berklee undergraduate brilliance scholarship is presented to an outstanding alumnus or alumna who has demonstrated exemplary talent, exceptional achievement, and remarkable brilliance during their undergraduate studies.

Scholarship Amount – $18,000

– Berklee Global Partner Scholarship

You may be interested to know that Berklee Global Partners awards individuals who have achieved outstanding accomplishments in their academic pursuits. This recognition can be given to a student, alumnus/a, or faculty member.

Scholarship Amount – $18,000

– Scholarship for M.A in Global Entertainment and Music Business

This scholarship recognizes the outstanding efforts of an individual who actively promotes the participation of female musicians and leaders in the music industry. The recipient of this award has been accepted to the prestigious M.A. in Global Entertainment and Music Business program, further demonstrating their commitment to advancing the field of music through education and advocacy.

Scholarship Amount – up to 70% of tuition fees + mentorship session with Yvette Noel-Schure

– Scholarship for M.M in Scoring for Film, Television and Video Games

This recognizes the exceptional efforts of an individual who actively advocates for female musicianship and leadership in the music industry. The recipient of the award must have been accepted into the Master of Music program in Scoring for Film, Television, and Video Games, demonstrating a strong commitment to advancing their skills in this field.

Scholarship Amount – up to 70% of tuition fees + mentorship session with Vanessa Garde

– Scholarship for M.M In Music Production, Technology and Innovation 

This award recognizes and honours an outstanding individual who is dedicated to promoting and advancing female musicianship and leadership in the music industry. The recipient of this award has demonstrated exceptional talent and passion for music and has been accepted to the highly competitive M.M. program in Music Production, Technology, and Innovation. The recipient will be recognized for their hard work, dedication, and commitment to creating a more inclusive and diverse music industry.

Scholarship Amount – up to 70% of tuition fees + mentorship session with Susan Rogers

– Scholarship for M.M in Contemporary Performance

This prestigious award is presented to an exceptional individual who has exhibited outstanding efforts in promoting female musicianship and leadership in the music industry. The recipient of this award must have also been accepted to the highly competitive M.M. program in Contemporary Performance with a specialization in Production. This award recognizes the recipient’s dedication to advancing the role of women in the music industry and their commitment to pursuing excellence in music production.

Scholarship Amount – up to 70% of tuition fees + mentorship session with Friederike Darius

How to Apply?

To be eligible for a Berklee scholarship, students must ensure that they submit the Berklee Graduate Scholarship Application before the stated deadline. Once the programme application is submitted, the Berklee Graduate Scholarship Application can be accessed in the Next Steps section of the online portal. It is important to note that only applicants who complete this process will be considered for a scholarship.

Remember these deadlines –

– If you submit your program application for Early Action (November 1), the scholarship deadline is November 15, 2023

– If you submit your program application for Regular action (January 15), the scholarship deadline is February 1, 2024

Decision Making

When applying for scholarships at Berklee, your application will be evaluated as a whole. This includes reviewing all the information provided in your scholarship application, supporting documents, as well as audition and/or interview results. By doing so, Berklee can determine all the scholarships you are eligible for. In some cases, they may also require additional documents to verify the information provided.

Once you are accepted into a master’s degree programme, you will receive a decision regarding your scholarship. However, if you are not accepted into the programme, you will not be informed about the scholarship decision.

Award Distribution

The scholarships range in value and are given to candidates who demonstrate exceptional musical and/or academic merit as well as financial need.

Students who are accepted and enrolled in the programme with a scholarship will have their award divided equally into three parts and credited directly to their tuition bill each semester. Please keep in mind that scholarship funds cannot be used to cover the tuition deposit or any other non-tuition-related expenses.

Students who get scholarships must follow a set of rules, including attendance, academics, and behaviour, in order to keep their scholarship during the academic year.
